Val & Jeff Newberg


The Newbergs are actively involved with and are passionate about the Jewish Federation of Austin, Anti-Defamation League, AIPAC, Austin Jewish Academy, Hospice Austin, Dell Children’s Medical Center, The Seton Breast Care Center, Eanes Education Foundation and many other philanthropic organizations.  In 2002, the Newbergs received the Community Leadership Award for their work on behalf of Congregation Ohr Hatorah, an orthodox synagogue in Austin at that time.  In 2006, Val and Jeff received the Shema Yisrael Award at the State of Israel Bond Dinner.  Along with two of his partners, Jeff was recognized with the JCC’s 2008 LBJ Humanitarian Award and Val was the Jewish Federation’s 2012 Woman of Valor Award recipient.  The Newbergs are members of both Congregation Agudas Achim and Temple Beth Shalom.  They have been married for almost 22 years and are the proud parents of Niki (19), Ryan (17) and Jacob (9).

Valerie is co-founder and co-chair of the very first Mosaic Luncheon 15 years ago.  It was the first event ever held in our new JCC with over 400 women in attendance.  Additionally, she has co-chaired the Women’s Division, Lion of Judah, served on the JCAA Allocation and Finance Committees and has served in multiple capacities at Congregation Agudas Achim, including the VP of Membership and was on the Board of Directors.  Val is serving her seventh year on the JCAA Board of Trustees.  While serving as the JCAA VP of Outreach and Engagement, she and her committee established the Neighborhood Nosh program, which earned a national award.  Currently, Val is serving her second year as Vice Chair of Philanthropy.  She is a graduate of the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School.  Additionally, Val has been on the Steering Committee for the new Seton Breast Care Center (which will open in March), was a co-commander of the Seton Pink Army and serves on the Seton Development Board.  Val is approaching her 22nd year as an Advisor for her AEPhi sorority at UT and still serves on the Steering Committee for Phi Omega Chapter’s “Honoring our Sisterhood, Investing in our Future” Capital Campaign.  

Jeff is Co-founder and Managing Principal of Endeavor Real Estate Group, a full service commercial real estate company focusing on retail, office, industrial and multi-family projects in Austin and around Central Texas.  Jeff has been involved in the commercial real estate industry for almost 30 years and has been responsible for or collaborated on the development of some of the Austin areas more notable retail projects including The Domain, University Oaks where IKEA is located and several grocery anchored shopping centers in and around Austin.  

Currently Jeff serves as the Chair of the Eanes Education Foundation, Board Member of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau and he is a Trustee of the Aytz Chaim Trust at Agudas Achim.  He served as Austin Anti-Defamation League’s third Board Chair and currently serves on its board of directors.  Jeff is a past Treasurer and board member of The Real Estate Council of Austin and a past board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the JCAA.  He served on the board of Congregation Agudas Achim and he was the Vice Chair of its Building Committee.  Jeff is currently serving on the JCC Generations Capital Campaign Committee and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He has served as a youth coach, coaching all of his kids in several sports.  He also coached the Austin Maccabi baseball team and served as basketball commissioner last summer during the Austin games.  Jeff is proud to be a two time finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award and recipient of multiple Austin Business Journal Best Real Estate Awards.
