JCC Early Childhood Program: Aleph Bet

Beginning February 16!

Welcome to Aleph Bet! The JCC Early Childhood Program (ECP) offers this structured drop-in program for children ages 18 months through three years old. Aleph Bet will stimulate your child’s social, physical, and cognitive development in an ethical and nurturing environment. Children learn by engaging individually and in groups in activities such as dramatic play, circle time, music, art, free play, and creative movement, according to the Jewish calendar. Aleph Bet, located at the ECP Village,  is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Space is limited daily, so parents are encouraged to reserve space in the program at least one week in advance.

Registration and Enrollment

The ECP requires all parents to complete registration and enrollment forms for our files. These forms are essential as they contain parent contact information, child health information, and other important data. The fee for Aleph Bet is $45.00 a day for JCC Family/Affiliate members and $55.00 a day for non-members.  Prepay four days of Aleph Bet and get a 10 percent discount!

Both the registration and enrollment forms, including health and immunization information, must be completed prior to your child’s first day in the Aleph Bet program. All forms are available from the ECP Front Office. All cancellations must be made one business day in advance either in person or in writing (e-mails accepted). Once we have received all required forms you may reserve a spot in person at the ECP Central or Village Front Office, or by e-mailing pearl.kaplan@shalomaustin.org. Payment must be made when you drop off your child. We accept checks, cash, or credit cards.

Arrival and Dismissal

Our program begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Frog Room at the ECP Village.  Please check-in with the ECP Village Administrators at the Front Desk when you arrive, as our hallway doors are locked for security purposes. Each morning, please sign your child into the Aleph Bet program on the designated sign-in/sign-out sheet in the Frog Room. Leave your child’s labeled backpack containing his/her daily supplies (water bottle, diapers, extra clothes, etc.) and lunch with the educator.

Our program ends each day at 12:00 p.m. All children must be picked-up by that time.  Late fees will be assessed at $25 plus $1 per minute. Please remember to always use the same daily sign-in/sign-out sheet when you come for your child at the end of his/her time in the Aleph Bet program. In addition, please remember to take your child’s backpack, water bottle, and belongings home with you daily.

What to Bring

Please bring a backpack including diapers and wipes (if used), a change of clothes, a dairy lunch, and water bottle. It is very important to LABEL EVERYTHING with your child’s name.


Snack will be served once each day at 10 AM Please see the monthly snack calendar posted in the Frog Room to confirm each day’s specific snack.
