Andromeda Galaxy: Heading for Collision

Our sister galaxy in the Milky Way is about twice our size.  Located in our Local Group of Galaxies only 2.5 million light years away, it is the most distant object visible to the naked eye.  It is headed our way, and we can expect a collision with our much larger neighbor in some 4-6 billion years.  Since Andromeda is the more massive galaxy, Milky Way will be the loser in this collision.
