Scholars in the Arena
LBJ School 50th Anniversary

Wednesday, March 11, 2020 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM

At the founding of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, President Johnson charged the School with producing thinkers and doers. Over the last 50 years, the LBJ School has not wavered from this mission. As one of the nation's top 10 public policy schools housed within a Tier-1 research institution, the LBJ School has cultivated a robust space of research and thought innovation. In turn, the academic excellence fostered at the LBJ School is put into action through the faculty, students and alumni that readily translate thinking into doing.

This morning session will zoom in on the rich ecosystem of the LBJ School community. Scholars in the Arena provides an overview of how the genius of thought combined with action brings about good.

Sessions include:

  • The Geniuses of Tomorrow are Born Today
  • The Cultivation of Geniuses
  • The Genius of Innovation
  • The Genius of Building Cities for All
  • Closing keynote by Dr. Art Markman, co-host of "Two Guys on Your Head:" The Multiple Meanings of Genius
