Every year Interfaith Action of Central Texas (iACT) honors people in our community who embody the mission and spirit of iACT of putting hope Into action. We are delighted to announce this year’s honorees for the 2022 iACT Hope Awards on April 26 at the Bob Bullock Museum:
- Dr. Guner Arslan
- Shalom Austin
- St. Stephen’s Episcopal School’s Saturdays@iACT refugee tutoring program
Dr. Arslan has been an interfaith leader in Austin ever since he moved here from Turkey in 1998 to earn his Ph.D. at UT in electrical computer engineering. He currently works at Silicon Labs as a distinguished engineer. He serves as the founding board member for the Dialogue Institute in Austin and has also served on the boards of Leadership Austin, North American University, and iACT. Shalom Austin serves as a hub of support for the Jewish community in greater Austin with a comprehensive program to address the needs of area congregations, schools, and community organizations. Saturdays@iACT, a student tutoring program at St. Stephens’ Episcopal School has served the refugee community in Austin for the past decade. This program has deeply impacted hundreds of young people–both SSES students and refugee children– through a deepening of interfaith relationships and service.
