New Moms Writer’s Workshop with Katya Lidsky

November 9 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

|Recurring Events (See all)

An event every week that begins at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until December 14, 2021

As a mom with a new baby, it can be easy to get lost in diapers and sleep regressions and the ongoing mental list of all the things we constantly need to do. But this writing class is a chance for you to be you, to get back to yourself, in touch with yourself, and simply to put pen to paper and write. Wherever you fall on the writer spectrum and whatever you want from a writing class – whether it’s for fun or to publish essays or to pick back up a project you’ve set aside or if you just want a new experience to sink into – this class is for you. There will be community here, potential friends and playdates, and the opportunity to access and express your thoughts and feelings, all during a 5-week span of wordly goodness.

We will read amazing excerpts from extraordinary writers, have time to do writing prompts and share work, and offer constructive criticism and unconditional support to one another along the way. This will be a safe place to share your ideas, to feel, and to create. I hope you will come laugh, come cry, come as you are and join us. Because your stories matter so much. And we’re all waiting to hear you.

This group is for moms with children 0-2 years old. There are limited spots available in this cohort.

Katya Lidsky writes books, TV shows, essays and articles. Her work has been featured in The Mighty, Time Out New York, NY Theatre Review, The Bark, Rover, Together Magazine, Girlie Girl Army, Our Hen House, and Adopt-a-Pet.com. She runs Pesky Moon Entertainment, an incubator for writers in Austin, along with her husband. Katya’s blog “The Daily Lastima” was lauded for its empathy-driven content, and her acclaimed one-woman show, I’m Sorry, which she wrote and performed, was accepted into the New York Fringe Festival and enjoyed two years of sold-out audiences in LA and NYC. She is the host of The Animal That Changed You podcast, loves animals, and fosters shelter dogs. Katya thoroughly enjoys teaching writer workshops because there is nothing she likes more than a good story. (This makes her not so fun to watch a movie with.)
