SUMMARY:L'dor V'dor Ladies: Sadness
DESCRIPTION:As women we know that we are gifted with a high emotional intelligence. We feel things deeply and bring “heart” to all that we do. Judaism is a religion filled with emotion that can be found in Torah\, Jewish ritual\, liturgy and of course life cycle events. Our feelings attach personal meaning and elevate our experiences. \nJoin us as a community of Jewish women as we “feel all the feels”. Come to one or all the sessions as we study the Jewish texts\, insights and practice behind the emotions of fear\, regret\, sadness and love. No prior Jewish knowledge required. All you need is a willingness to meet other Jewish women and to share your thoughts\, questions and life lessons. \nMarch 4: Sadness\nWhen in Judaism are we supposed to feel sadness? What are communal obligations for comforting others? Which texts and prayers help inform our sadness?

SUMMARY:Lunch & Speaker Event with Mark Gober
DESCRIPTION:Join us for lunch with Mark Gober and Brett Hurt\, CEO and Co-founder of data.world and Bazaarvoice and Coremetrics before. \nMark Gober has written seven books that start with the title of “An End to Upside Down…” that challenge traditional scientific beliefs. As Stargate was approved for $500 billion of funding (far more inflation adjusted than the Manhattan Project versus Germany or the space race versus Russia) and China’s DeepSeek challenges our US-created AI models with an open-source approach\, it is clear that we are in a race to be the first country to create AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). But do we even know what consciousness is? We’ll dive into Mark Gober’s first book\, “An End to Upside Down Thinking\,” to challenge the scientific consensus that consciousness somehow materializes from matter. Mark’s book was turned into a successful podcast named “Where Is My Mind?” \nAs we race towards the creation of sentient machines globally\, evoking science-fiction movies of the past like “Blade Runner” or “The Matrix” (and leading to the early moratorium calls in 2023 to pause AI development for six months – remember that?)\, this topic is more important than ever. Come ready to challenge your materialist assumptions as we dive into a whole new way of thinking about “the hard problem of consciousness.” \nFree to attend. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required. \n\nClick here to register.
