SUMMARY:CTI Scholar in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Congregation Tiferet Israel is pleased and honored to host Rabbi Dov Linzer\, President and Rosh HaYeshiva of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah Rabbinical School\, as our Scholar in Residence on the Shabbat of May 15/16\, 2026! \nRabbi Linzer served as YCT’s Rosh HaYeshiva for over 20 years (including the four years that Rabbi Millner attended.) Rabbi Linzer became its President in 2019 and assumed both the institutional and Torah-based leadership of YCT. In this dual capacity\, Rabbi Linzer has set the vision for YCT as a Center of Torah and Torah Leadership\, and\, with an amazing team of colleagues and partners\, oversees its growth\, reach\, and further development. \nAn acclaimed Torah and halakha scholar\, Rabbi Linzer has been a leading rabbinic voice in the Modern Orthodox community for over 25 years. He has published over 100 teshuvot (responsa) and scholarly Torah articles\, and hosts a number of highly popular Torah podcasts. \nDuring his visit\, Rabbi Linzer will deliver three talks: \nMay 15\, Friday Night: Does (or Should) Halakha Talk Values? – What does it mean to live a halakhic life? A look at whether halakha is all about obedience\, rule-following and details\, or whether it is meant to give us religious and moral guidance and how it can help us grapple with the vexing issues of our lives. \nMay 16\, Shabbat Morning: Making Torah Accessible to All – The Mishkan was placed in the center of the Israelite camp so that God and holiness could be accessible by all. How do we realize that ideal in our community and in our religious leadership? \nMay 16\, Seudah Shlishit: We Will Do and We Will Hear – Insights of Sfat Emet on Shavuot – With Shavuot just one week away\, we will look at some writings by Sfat Emet\, the Gerer Rebbe\, and his understanding of what it means to be drawn to a life of observance (“we will do”) and/or of meaning (“we will hear”). \nRabbi Linzer will deliver his May 15 Friday night talk at a Communal Dinner\, catered by Gail’s Catering\, in the Epstein Community Hall of the Dell JCC\, immediately following services. Please note that Mincha / Kabbalat Shabbat services will be held at B’nai Abraham\, and will start at 7:00PM!
