Shalom Austin Brittman Literary Event

Shalom Austin Literary Series

In 2020, Shalom Austin Literary Series joined the MJCAA and the National JCC Liteary Consortium’s BookFest in Your Living Room. The series featured 10+ online events with reknowned and celebrated authors from across the country.

Book Lover’s Luncheon

Every year, Shalom Austin Women’s Philanthropy hosts this signature literary event featuring an incredible author to share a special story, whether it is from a cookbook, a coffee table book, or a novel of life-changing stories.

Past authors:

  • Myla Goldberg, Feast Your Eyes
  • Elana Horwich, Meal and a Spiel
  • Dafna Michaelson Jenet, It Takes a Little Crazy To Make a Difference

Leslie Brittman Literary Event

Every year, Shalom Austin hosts the Leslie Brittman Literary Event for the community to enjoy hearing from a featured author. The event was made possible by the generosity of the Leslie S. Brittman Literary Fund, named in honor of Marvin Brittman’s wife Leslie, who died of cancer in 2016. Marvin and his children, Rochelle and David, dedicated this fund to fostering a love of literature and the sharing of ideas.

Past authors:

  • Bess Kalb, Nobody Will Tell You This But Me: A True (as told to me) Story
  • Deborah Gaal, The Dream Stitcher
  • Yvette Manessis Corporon, Something Beautiful Happened: A Story of Survival and Courage in the Face of Evil
