Bollywood Meets Borscht Belt 

7th Annual Hindu-Jewish School Supplies Donation - Benefits Austin, Del Valle, Manor and Pflugerville ISD, Children of Veterans and other Homeless Children

After another successful fundraising event – Bollywood Meets Borscht Belt - Hindu Charities For America (HC4A) and Jewish Community are honored to continue with a joint community service project to help with the education of homeless children in Del Valle, Manor, Pflugerville and Austin Texas, children of veterans and other communities. This unique service project is the first one ever in Austin and is in its 7th year. The organizations will coordinate the packing of school supplies for over 1,500 homeless children with volunteers from various communities on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 12.30 pm to 4:00 pm at the Dell Jewish Community Campus, located in Northwest Austin at 7300 Hart Lane, Community Hall Stage. This family friendly event will be complemented post event dances by participating children.

This year both the Shalom Austin Jewish community and HC4A raised funds to donate school supplies to homeless children in the Austin metro area. Since its inception in 2010 HC4A, has served Round Rock, Austin, Bastrop, Leander, Manor and Del Valle independent school districts (ISDs). For the fourth time, both Jewish and Hindu Communities joined hands for a successful fundraiser, Bollywood Meets Borscht Belt that met its goal to support school supplies for over 1,500 homeless children in Austin, Del Valle and Manor ISDs. Additionally, HC4A also provides trade school scholarships to students with GPA of 1.9 and over and who are below federally defined poverty line. The fundraiser, HC4A Gala, is planned for October 20th at 5:30 pm at Crown Plaza this year.
