Simcha Readers Theater
TUESDAYS | 1 PM
Learn the art of dramatic storytelling. Whether childhood stories, tales from your grandparents, fictional imaginations, folktales or tall tales. Learn how to organize and tell a story verbally and in writing, connect with your audience, and bring your story to life. Class led by Sue Bilich and Dianne Dorman.
Life of the NY Times
EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY | 1 PM
Join this informal, fun conversation about pre-selected articles from the New York Times. Led by Abby Kenigsberg, retired adjunct Professor of Media from Long Island University, Film Critic, and News Anchor. The class aims to enjoy a closer look at the New York Times, one of the world’s best newspapers, as it goes digital and changes from the ‘old gray lady’ to a gripping, tough-talking citizen of the world.
News & Schmooze
Mondays | 9:30 AM
Join in on the conversation. Come discuss local, national, and international news and keep up with what’s happening. Participants are welcome to bring in newspaper articles or research a topic of interest to share with the group.
EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY | 1-2:30 PM
“The Writers” is an ongoing writing group that meets bi-monthly. The group’s key interest is writing plays, but it welcomes writers who want to write monologues, screenplays, sketch comedy, etc. and who would like to contribute creatively to this serious group.
Flex Your Brain
Thursdays | 10 AM
Join us for this fun and fast-paced hour-long class. This class is meant to keep your brain strong and flexible with individual and group games and challenges. Gameplay can serve a critical role in maintaining and even improving brain power in older adults.
Monday-Friday | 12 PM
This online class is a combination of low and moderate intensity aerobic exercises, weight-based resistance training, body-weight exercises, floor work, abs and stretching to improve overall fitness, balance and coordination for adults age 60 and better. Advanced classes will be faster-paced and will include additional physical challenges, such as lunges and squats.
The Mitzvah Knitters are meeting by phone. Give back to our community by volunteering your time and talent at the J! If you knit or crochet, or want to learn how, there is a weekly teacher to help you. Projects vary each season and blankets, stuffed animals, hats and scarves are given to those who are less fortunate. Materials are provided, and will be delivered when the group is meeting by phone.
