The Last Night of Ballyhoo
November 8 @ 8:00 pm - November 24 @ 10:00 pm
Set in the elitist upper class German-Jewish community of the South, The Last Night of Ballyhoo tells the story of a family who’s desire to assimilate has all but erased their Jewish identity. Things change when Joe (a visitor from New York) meets Sunny (a Junior at Wellesley) and challenges her to embrace and accept her heritage. By centering the German and Slavic Jewish divide, and setting it in Atlanta right on the precipice of WW2, Uhry weaves a deeply human story that expertly reveals the absolute lunacy of every kind of prejudice. While witnessing these characters struggle with their identity, Uhry brings the audience to one conclusion: There is no “us vs them”. There is only us.
