Adult Jewish Learning

Shalom Austin Adult Jewish Learning (AJL) is a series of high-quality Jewish learning opportunities that provides experiences for individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs.

Fall Semester Series: “If not now, when?”: Social Justice Through Jewish Thought (a four-part course)

Is self-interest selfish? How do I juggle obligation to my people and obligation to the broader community? What is my moral framework for social justice? Join Shalom Austin Public Affairs Director Emily Bourgeois in a class focused on answering these questions about community, obligation, and social justice.

Classes take place on Monday, October 28, November 4, November 11 and November 18, 7-8:30 PM, at the Dell JCC.

October 28: Introduction to Jewish Social Justice
November 4: If I am not for me, who will be for me?
November 11: And when I am for myself alone, what am I?
November 18: And if not now, then when?
