Although the sanctuary was rendered unusable for an unforeseeable time due to a fire that was intentionally set outside the main sanctuary doors on October 31, 2021, Congregation Beth Israel did not give up on a much anticipated in-person gathering. Members of CBI joined together the following week on November 5, 2021 in the parking lot for a Parking Lot Shabbat. The celebratory mood was described as a wonderful affirmation of communal love and strength. ■
