Head Counselor

The Head Counselor oversees the programs, relationships, and logistics of the Kids Connection afterschool day. During the aftercare hours, the head counselor is resposible for knowing about their childrens’ and families’ well-being (health, safety, level of happiness, etc.), staff well-being (job satisfaction, performance, co-worker relationships, etc.), and special group concerns (behavioral issues, etc). The Head Counselor must have experience in supervision and programming for children. Activity Counselors must abide by Shalom Austin’s health and safety protocol put in place for the school year. This is a part-time, hourly position. The hours are 2:00pm-6:00pm 5 days a week, Monday-Friday

Activity Counselor

Activity Counselors along with their co-counselors will be assigned to a group of children, based by grade, Pre-K through 5th grade for afterschool activities at Kids Connection Afterschool Program. As a group leader and facilitator, the Activity Counselor is responsible for the day-to-day programming of the group. The Activity Counselor should program to meet the needs of all campers in the group; however, the Activity Counselor must be sensitive to the goals and objectives of the program and provide a program to meet all needs. Activity Counselors must abide by Shalom Austin’s health and safety protocol put in place for the school year. This is a part-time, hourly position. The hours are from 2:30pm-6:00pm 5 days a week, Monday-Friday with some flexibility

Homework Specialist (FILLED)

Homework Specialists will be assigned to a group of children 1st-5th grade to assist in Homework during Kids Connection Hours. As the group lead, the homework specialist ensures all children who come to the Homework lab effectively work on assigned homework from their school. Specialists must abide by Shalom Austin’s health and safety protocol put in place for the school year.

Arts & Crafts Specialist (FILLED)

Arts & Crafts Specialist will program and facilitate for groups consisting of 12-16 campers grade K-6. Arts & Crafts Specialists are responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans related to their program area and intentionally adding Jewish core values within this area. The Arts & Crafts Specialist will also aide in facilitating, planning, and executing JCamps special events and theme days. Specialists must abide by Shalom Austin’s health and safety protocol put in place for the school year

Bus Driver (FILLED)

The Bus Driver will be assigned to pick up children from a specific school or schools and bring them to Kids Connection. This person must have excellent communication skills and a desire to work around children. They will be paired with a Kids Connection staff member who is responsible for supervision of the children while in transport. The Bus Driver must abide by Shalom Austin’s health and safety protocol put in place for the school year
