Big news was announced to Dell JCC members on April 21. The grand opening of Shevet Cafe at the Stephanie & Jeff Miller Family JCafe at the Dell JCC opened, bringing the first and only kosher food cafe to Austin as well as a vibrant, welcoming, and nourishing element to the community. Locally owned and operated by Tzlil Sadeh, the cafe offers freshly made kosher food, coffee and other beverages Sunday through Friday.
Sadeh says the idea for Shevet Cafe was born from her daily experience at the Dell JCC. “As an Israeli and a regular member of the community here, I found myself dreaming of a space that would feel like home—where people could gather, enjoy good coffee and food, and connect. I imagined a place that would bring together the flavors of Israeli hospitality and the warmth of our community. With the incredible support of the JCC team, this dream slowly turned into a real plan, and eventually, a reality,” Sadeh said.
Shevet means tribe, which symbolizes community, belonging and connection— values at the heart of the Dell JCC and the cafe’s purpose.
Sadeh says that Shevet Cafe is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a place where people pause, connect, and enjoy a small taste of something meaningful. “Whether it’s the familiar flavors of home or the joy of trying something new, I hope it becomes a place where everyone feels welcome. I’m so grateful to be part of this community and excited for what’s ahead,” Sadeh said.
Dell JCC members and visitors can enjoy menu items such as bourekas with hard-boiled egg, pickles and tahini, a tuna salad sandwich with a spicy kick, and their energy balls made with gluten-free oats, dates, pecans, and cocoa.
