Shalom Austin Jewish Family Service offers Disability Services at no charge. These services include helping to connect clients with resources and programs both on campus and in the surrounding Greater Austin area, assistance completing forms and applications, and a collaborative solution-oriented approach to challenges relating to the client’s disabling condition(s).

Shalom Austin Supported Employment Program 

Shalom Austin proudly offers a variety of opportunities for adults with disabilities, both during and after completion of school, to develop job skills, social skills, and paid employment. Partnering with area public schools for our Workplace Experience Program for students in adult transition education programs and supported seasonal internships, we are thrilled to be assisting adults overcome the systemic barriers to gainful employment

RAISE Employment Readiness 

RAISE is a key component of Shalom Austin’s Supported Employment Program, providing employment and job readiness opportunities to individuals with disabilities who have finished school (no graduation or GED required).

RAISE is a 9-month cohort program pairing paid participants with volunteer job coaches for weekly work shifts and Lunch & Learn classes to develop the skills necessary to secure and maintain meaningful employment.

Camps Inclusion

At JCamps, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of summer camp, and our Inclusion Program is designed to make that possible! This program provides individualized support for campers with learning, developmental, social, emotional, and/or physical disabilities, ensuring they can fully participate in all the fun, friendship, and adventure that JCamps has to offer.

RAISE Kids

Wellness With A Disability 

Approximately one in five Americans has a disability. This group provides a safe, confidential, and supportive space for adult members of the Austin Jewish community who have a disability: mental, physical, emotional, or other. The group members discuss issues related to their own disabilities and broader disability concerns, and to offer support and ways to cope with aspects of life.​ ​While group is a place to find community, it is also a place to develop deeper connections with others, accept and receive support, increase interpersonal communication skills, build self-awareness, and increase sense of self.​ ​

JFS Grief Circle

I Am Able Empowerment Group 

This group builds a community to remove the stigma and misconceptions about autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other invisible learning disabilities.  This hangout and discussion group offers a chance to check in and socialize with like-minded friends. Discussion topics may include stigma or challenges in the workplace, building confidence, increasing personal accountability, and celebrating invisible differences.

Surviving the holidays

Playful Connections  

A casual play group for families with children who are neurodivergent and/or living with a disability. The purpose of the play group is to build community through a loosely structured indoor gathering where families can have fun, let down their guard, and connect with others! Registration is required.

Sometimes you just want to talk to other parents and caregivers who “get it.” Parent Connections is a group for those raising, and for those who have already raised, children with disabilities and/or neurodivergent conditions. This is a social space to share your experiences, favorite resources, conversation – and to just enjoy being around other adults who have some understanding of your unique parenting path
