Shalom Austin Supported Employment Program
Shalom Austin proudly offers a variety of opportunities for adults with disabilities, both during and after completion of school, to develop job skills, social skills, and paid employment. Partnering with area public schools for our Workplace Experience Program for students in adult transition education programs and supported seasonal internships, we are thrilled to be assisting adults overcome the systemic barriers to gainful employment.
For educators who wish to learn more about our Supported Employment Program, please contact [email protected].
RAISE Employment Readiness
RAISE is a key component of Shalom Austin’s Supported Employment Program, providing employment and job readiness opportunities to individuals with disabilities who have finished school (no graduation or GED required).
RAISE is a 9-month cohort program pairing paid participants with volunteer job coaches for weekly work shifts and Lunch & Learn classes to develop the skills necessary to secure and maintain meaningful employment.
Camps Inclusion
At JCamps, we believe every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of summer camp, and our Inclusion Program is designed to make that possible! This program provides individualized support for campers with learning, developmental, social, emotional, and/or physical disabilities, ensuring they can fully participate in all the fun, friendship, and adventure that JCamps has to offer.
DISABILITY & INCLUSION GROUPS
Wellness With A Disability
Approximately one in five Americans has a disability. This group provides a safe, confidential, and supportive space for adult members of the Austin Jewish community who have a disability: mental, physical, emotional, or other. The group members discuss issues related to their own disabilities and broader disability concerns, and to offer support and ways to cope with aspects of life. While group is a place to find community, it is also a place to develop deeper connections with others, accept and receive support, increase interpersonal communication skills, build self-awareness, and increase sense of self.
