WHAT WE DO

Supporting Families and Community Members

We work with parents and schools to address the needs of Jewish students in K-12 schools and on college campuses. We are building stronger relationships with Superintendents and school boards to tackle the most pressing issues facing our students in schools. We work with community and campus partners to address these needs.

Building Greater Awareness of the Jewish Community

We work to ensure that Jewish voices are actively included in spaces where they have historically been underrepresented. We work to build a better understanding of Israel, Jewish religion, and culture in the greater Austin area. Together with our community partners, we work to combat hate and promote pluralism.

Advocating for Key Policy Priorities

We work with local and state elected officials to support policies that reflect our community’s values and most crucial priorities This includes advocating for Israel, the Non-Profit Security Grant Program, hate crimes data tracking, and anti-flyering ordinances that prevent hateful Neo-Nazi and other extremist organizations from targeting citizens’ homes.

Advocacy in Action is Shalom Austin’s monthly Public Affairs briefing series. Held on Zoom, we offer insights on key policy and public affairs issues impacting our community. Join us for an hour community briefing with leaders and experts on topics like education, civic engagement, and combating hate. Stay informed and empowered to advocate for meaningful change in Austin and beyond.
