Shalom Austin Women’s Philanthropy Kicks Off Programmatic Year
By Arielle Levy
The Shalom Austin Women’s Philanthropy programmatic year began in August, and one month in, leadership knows it is going to be a good year. August was a great success hosting a delicious challah bake, an educational and inspirational L’dor V’dor Ladies, and a very happy and social Wine Down Sunday. This year may look different from years before as engagement is online, but Women’s Philanthropy is here to adapt to change and embrace all of the interactions they are still able to pursue.
As the Jewish New Year approaches, it is a time for reflection and connection, and a time for gratitude. Women’s Philanthropy is thankful for everyone who participates throughout the year and philanthropically supports Shalom Austin’s efforts. There are 50 women on the Women’s Philanthropy Committee who work to make each opportunity special, and Women’s Philanthropy expresses appreciation for all they do, providing vision, hard work and time.
Upcoming programs in September include the fall events for giving societies, Lion of Judah and Pomegranate Society, both taking place at different times on Sept. 10. As Women’s Philanthropy is not able to recruit volunteers for the usual Adult 60+ Rosh Hashanah Luncheon this year, the leadership has creatively adjusted volunteer opportunities. The Adult 60+ Programming, Jewish Family Service, and Women’s Philanthropy departments are collaborating to provide a different kind of Rosh Hashanah celebration for the adult 60+ community in Austin and Central Texas.
To ensure programs like these will continue for years to come, please consider learning about several ways for one to endow a gift to Shalom Austin, the hub of Jewish life in Central Texas. An endowment will allow community members of all ages to connect with one another through a Jewish lens now and in the future.
