CEO Message: Be Strong and We Will Strengthen One Another
The moment is finally here! While I cannot share a specific date, the completion of the Dell Jewish Community Center is within reach. The vision for an expanded 21st century complex was over a decade in the making, thanks to the generosity of so many in our community. The opening of the new building represents a major phase of completion to the Generations project. Three more elements will begin construction by mid-year including the Krasoff Jewish Family Service Building, Kogut Terrace and Judy Waxman Meditation Garden. All of these elements will enhance our beautiful urban oasis at the Dell Jewish Community Campus.
As we approach spring and observe Purim and Passover, two very joyous holidays, we have much to celebrate as a community. Just as nature returns to life in the spring, the seeds that have been planted for over a decade are coming to fruition.
We are adding another important chapter to our Austin Jewish community narrative that will impact many generations to come. This is the single most important initiative that Shalom Austin has taken on since the opening of the campus in 2000. More information will be forthcoming on ways to pause and celebrate this monumental accomplishment.
As we finish one chapter of our Torah and start another, we say the words chazak, chazak v’nitchazek, be strong, be strong and we will strengthen one another. As we close one chapter in our community’s history, we have all strengthened one another through this process. And as we begin a new chapter, we are well positioned for incredible growth thanks to the generosity of so many in our community. We should all feel blessed to be a part of this moment as we continue to shape our sacred community.
Wishing you and your families a joyous and meaningful Purim and Passover.
L’Shalom,
Rabbi Daniel A. Septimus
