SAJF Fundholder Spotlight: Wade Monroe

Shalom Austin Jewish Foundation (SAJF) fundholder Wade Monroe has lived in Austin for 30 years. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, he joined an Austin-based computer software startup founded by the son of a former colleague and close friend

In 2011, Monroe joined the JCC. Within just one year of becoming involved with the Austin Jewish community, Monroe was asked to serve on the Board of Directors.

When asked about how he first became involved with the SAJF, Monroe said, “My wife desired to make charitable contributions as her parents had done, so we established the Wade & Sally Monroe Family Fund. Not only did this accomplish our philanthropic goals, but it also allowed us to obtain a large Federal tax deduction as a result of a large gain from the sale of private stock.”

Monroe‘s earliest memories of giving tzedakah include giving to his synagogue and other Jewish organizations. By partnering with the SAJF, not only does Monroe enjoy the timeliness and accuracy of his charitable allocations, but he has also become more involved with the Jewish community and made friends.

A devoted family man, Monroe’s greatest pride and joy are his children and grandchildren and the legacy he is building for them. By investing in the Austin Jewish community today, his generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of others for generations to come.
