Shalom Austin Awards Grants in 2025 Aligned with Strategic Plan

In a meaningful step forward, Shalom Austin has completed its annual grants process, which was guided by its strategic plan. The result: over $165,000 awarded in impact grants to a diverse group of organizations to fund innovative program initiatives requiring support to launch, test and refine over three to four years, and whose missions align closely with Shalom Austin’s priorities.

The grantmaking process focused on deeper impact in a few strategic areas: Greater Austin engagement, combatting antisemitism, human services, and Israel and Jewish peoplehood.

“Our strategy challenged us to think differently about how we support the community,” said Carly Sansom, Grants Committee co-chair. “It’s not just about giving; it’s about investing where we believe change and impact can happen.”

In addition to the impact grants, the Planning Committee allocated more than $178,000 to core partners who have established ties and a proven track record in Shalom Austin focus areas.

The Grants Committee, co-chaired by Matt Smith and Sansom, led a collaborative and thoughtful review process. Committee members included Mitch Davis, Robin Davis, Rona Elbaz, Christina Gorczynski, Adam Helsinger, Kendal Jaffe, Lynne Kurtz-Citrin, Alex Robinson, Harry Zimmerman, Todd Waldman, Emilie Rosenfield and Tori Smith, who brought a range of perspectives and deep community knowledge to the table.

They worked closely with Shalom Austin staff to ensure alignment with the strategic goals, ultimately narrowing the field to 16 grantee partners whose work is both timely and transformational.

Grants are made possible by the Shalom Austin Annual Campaign. Shalom Austin looks forward to deepening its relationships with this year’s grantees and learning alongside them.
