The Descendants of Holocaust Survivors in Central Texas brings together 2Gs (second generation—children of survivors) and 3Gs (third generation–grandchildren) and the broader community for programs and meaningful activities. Here’s a look at some upcoming activities:

Speaker Training for 3Gs: DOHS has joined forces with Living Links, a national organization that empowers third generation to learn and share their family’s Holocaust experiences with students and community groups to counter hate and antisemitism. The training involves four two-hour virtual sessions. The next programs begin on November 18, 2025 and January 7, 2026. They will be offering training to Second Generation descendants in the future.

Visit to the Dallas Holocaust Museum: After successful trips to the San Antonio and Houston Holocaust Museums, the group is heading for an all-day visit to the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum on November 16.

Speakers for Area Schools: The Texas Holocaust, Genocide, and Antisemitism Advisory Commission invites descendants to become volunteer speakers in Central Texas schools for Holocaust Remembrance Week, Jan. 26-30, 2026, beginning in mid-January through mid-March. Speakers must have a prepared age-appropriate (middle or high school) presentation. For more information, contact [email protected].

San Antonio Holocaust Museum Reunion Weekend: Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio and its Voices of the Shoah (descendants committee) have a family reunion weekend honoring their community’s Holocaust survivors and their families, plus the museum’s 25th Anniversary on October 24-26 with Shabbat dinner, Havdalah and desserts, and a Sunday brunch reunion. For more information, contact [email protected].

Chicago Discussion Group for 3Gs: 3G Chicago hosts a discussion group series centered on the experience of being a grandchild of survivors, facilitated by fellow 3G and therapist, Joe Kanengiser. To join their distribution list for the Zoom calls, visit 3gchicago.com/.
