JCAMPS 2021

We’re open and ready for the best summer ever! Our trained staff are dedicated to providing a safe space for campers while maintaining the normalcy of being with friends. Kids will enjoy everything the JCC has to offer, from large indoor spaces and a gymnasium to the lush grounds and outdoor fields! Each day, campers will participate in outside activities, crafts, plus JCamps traditions like song session and flagpole! 

While our pool is under construction for the new Rochelle & Stanley Ferdman Family Aquatic Center, we will still have lots of fun and engaging water activities to keep campers cool this summer!

We’re so excited to be back together, we just have to twist and shout about it! This week will be a celebration of all of us coming back together. As we work together to get used to our new routines, we will focus on moving our bodies and using our voices to express ourselves.

Our nationally recognized program offers a high energy, fun and age-appropriate introduction to the wonderful game of soccer. Campers must bring their own lunch, snacks and water bottle. Campers must be of age by January 1, 2021 and 100% bathroom independent. Indoor and outdoor activities included.

This session will be all about things that go and the places they can take us! Buckle up for a session of exploring the physics of rolling cars, engaging in dramatic play, and even making our own passports. I wonder where we will go!

This is every LEGO® lover’s DREAM Camp. 5 STEAM camps in 1 that includes: LEGO® Science: Simple & Amazing Machines, LEGO® Technology: Movie Making, LEGO® Engineering: Robotics & Programming, LEGO® Art: Mosaic, Storytellers & Maker Space, LEGO® Math: Math Games & Master Builders. They will be challenged with the LEGO®  NXT, EV3, & WeDo robotics program where they will build & program their own robotic creations and learn about coding, engineering, gears, pulleys, levers, and more!

Coach Mo’s Athletic Training Camp Sports | 1st-5th Grades 

The core of every sport is agility, speed, and conditioning. This camp is designed to help young athletes improve in their chosen sport (soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, football, or lacrosse). 

Martial Arts Camp | 1st-6th Grades 

Summer Kick Off Camp: Schools out, but there is still so much to learn at Martial Arts Camp!  Engaging games, projects, and hikes, plus the life-enriching skills of self-confidence, respect, self-control, and friendship. Campers will learn awareness and self-defense skills to keep them safe and have a fun summer they will never forget.

Chamudim (cuties) is our premier Kindergarten-readiness program!  Your camper will learn and hone essential skills to ensure they are ready for their exciting transition to Elementary School in the fall! Chamudim campers will gain independence, develop skills and explore almost all that JCamps has to offer!  Every week, Chamudim campers will participate in art, music, Israeli Culture, nature, athletics, and water activities. Each day there is a short rest time after lunch. Chamudim is the magic of summer and pure joy of time spent outdoors with best friends, especially during group bonding events like Friday Shabbat, Maccabiah, Pride Day, Theme Days and so much more!  

Noar  | 1st & 2nd Grades

Noar (youth) campers will really begin to develop their interests and friendships at camp through participation in all specialty areas including art, music, Israeli Culture, nature, athletics, archery, and water activities. During the day, Noar is filled with ruach “spirit,” excitement and campers feel a true sense of community. Noar is the magic of summer and pure joy of time spent outdoors with best friends, especially during group bonding events like Friday Shabbat, Maccabiah, Pride Day, Theme Days and so much more!  

Hideout Theatre Improv Camp | 1st-5th Grades

In the Hideout Camps kids learn the basics of improv, story telling, and stagecraft mostly through playing games – because you learn better when you are having fun! Everyday we play games, create stories, perform scenes, do crafts and generally have a blast. We will show off our amazing new skills in a performance for friends and family!  

Kochavim  | 3rd & 4th Grades

Kochavim (stars) campers will get the full camp experience! Campers will participate in all specialty areas including art, music, Israeli Culture, nature, athletics, archery, and water activities. Kochavim campers participate in select fun activities made just for them, to engage with their bunkmates, strengthening their sense of community and enhancing their social skills (without even knowing it!). Kochavim is the magic of summer and pure joy of time spent outdoors with best friends, especially during group bonding events like Friday Shabbat, Maccabiah, Pride Day, Theme Days and so much more!

Giborim (heroes) is “the coolest team” here at JCamps!  Campers participate in all specialty areas including art, music, Israeli Culture, nature, athletics, archery, and water activities. The Giborim experience is designed to keep our oldest campers engaged and asking for more, all while allowing for exploration, skill building, fostering friendships and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Giborim is the magic of summer and pure joy of time spent outdoors with best friends, especially during group bonding events like Friday Shabbat, Maccabiah, Pride Day, Theme Days and so much more!  

JV Maccabi | 1st-2nd Grades

Our goal is to build confidence, develop skills, and learn about teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun, age-appropriate atmoshpere. Led by experienced and professional staff, your camper willhave an action-packed experience they will never forget! Counselors are Certified Specialists in their fields. Sports include basketball, volleyball, hockey, and flag football. 

Varsity Maccabi | 3rd-6th Grades  

Seasoned, professional staff guide campers to improve skills, become team players and embody sportsmanship. Your kids will rave about this camp! Counselors are Certified Specialists in their fields. Sports include basketball, volleyball, soccer, hockey, and flag football.

New sports camp offering for 2021 – JCamps Flag Football!  Join us for a high-energy week of non-contact Flag Football for everyone! Campers learn skills on both sides of the ball including passing, receiving and defending – all presented in a fun & positive environment. Session culminates with an awesome skills challenge and 5 v 5 tournament.

This is a longtime favorite of our campers. Campers are grouped by age to encourage success and build confidence. Ball handling, footwork, shooting contests, strengthening & conditioning, and scrimmage games & tournament play.

Battle Bots | 2nd-6th Grades

Campers learn to design and build their own motorized battle cars and other vehicles. Using principles of simple and complex machines, gearing, and mechanical advantage, students will try to flip, push, or smash their opponent’s battle vehicles. Students learn the use of mechanical lifts, drills, ramps and more to disable or overcome other bots. Students will use the LEGO Mindstorms Education Robotics system

Comic Book Creation | 3rd-7th Grades

Join our talented team of Graphic Artists, Card Game Enthusiasts, & Comic Book Gurus to create your very own Heroes of Legend! This class will explore the history and lore of traditional comic books and card games. The students will create and develop a Comic Book or Card Game Hero and tell their unique story. Each student will learn how to draw and illustrate their characters to share with the world.  

Crayola® Wild World | 1st-6th Grades

Are you ready for an art expedition? Let the wonder and beauty of the animal kingdom inspire your empathy, curiosity, and creativity. Learn about lions, elephants, sharks and more, and find out how wildlife conservationists are working to protect species around the globe. Experiment with a variety of art techniques, and use Crayola® products to create animal-inspired art projects,from frog paintings to polar bear sculptures! Let your creativity run wild, and bring your handiwork home to build a menagerie of animal-themed masterpieces.

Utubers Unite | 3rd-7th Grades

Short Form Content Creation is where it is at!! Students will spend the week creating short form content; game play commentary, lifestyle shows, product reviews, current events, etc.…. Once the footage has been captured, students will work together to edit and deliver the footage in an exciting show format that excites and captivates their audience. Any up and coming You-Tuber will love this crash course in content creation! Final projects will be available for screening via the 4Reelz School of Film YouTube Channel.

Budding engineers’ entering grades K – 2nd are given age-appropriate LEGO® lessons and games, and LEGO® sets with plenty of instructors to help with building. Leaders in Training (LIT) | 9th-10th Grades

The JCamps Leaders in Training (LIT) Program has been redesigned to allow teens a multifaceted experience. The program contains three components: leadership training, hands-on counselor skills guidance, and fun, social programing. Each two-week session will provide teens the opportunity to experience every facet of working at a summer camp from interacting directly with campers to shadowing activity specialists and admin. Under the supervision of our Program Coordinator, LITs will meet as a group regularly for learning and discussion groups. The first week of each session provides a more in-depth learning experience, and the second week will focus on putting those skills to use in camp groups. LITs will also help program for camp groups. Upon completion of the LIT Program, participants will receive a minimum of 45 community service hours and are eligible for higher rate of pay as a Junior Counselor at JCamps.

Desserts and Donuts | 7th-9th Grades
July 6-9

Campers will spend the week exploring Austin’s best and yummiest food. From Gourdough’s famous donuts to Kerby Lane’s delicious queso, we will try it all. We will even have our own food challenges and discover our inner foodie. Come hungry and leave happy!  

Tikkun Olam | 7th-9th Grades
July 12-16

Campers will spend the week giving back to the Austin community through volunteer opportunities with local organizations. This is a perfect chance to gain valuable experience, learn about ways you can be an ambassador for change and discover youth activists who are already making an impact! All campers are guaranteed to earn a minimum of 20 volunteer hours. Come get your hands dirty and Keep Austin Giving, JCamps style!  

SESSION D, JULY 19-30

Side Hustle | 7th-9th Grades
July 19-23

Discover your inner CEO! By teaching hands-on entrepreneurship, Side Hustle Camp strives to ignite possibilities with our campers by giving them a voice and a space to be creative. This is the perfect opportunity to gain experience and learn how to make your skills or passions marketable. At the end of the week, we will pitch our ideas to a panel, Shark Tank style. See you in the JTank!  

Keep Austin Weird | 7th-9th Grades
July 26-30

Campers will spend the week exploring all the unique things Austin has to offer. This is the perfect opportunity to get out and discover Ayour city like you’ve never seen it before! From graffiti walls to watering holes, we will be doing it all. Come ready an adventure and enjoy what Keeps Austin Weird!
