Apply for Jewish Overnight Camp Scholarship
Why Jewish overnight camp?
Shalom Austin is a proud supporter of Jewish overnight camp. We are committed to the holistic development of the younger generation and the significance of nurturing their personal and spiritual growth in Judaism. These camps provide meaningful experiences in a unique environment where children gain independence, develop life skills, and build stronger Jewish identity.
Attending Jewish overnight camp offers children the opportunity to forge lasting connections, create a sense of belonging and camaraderie, and encourages self-discovery – all in a Jewish setting! While campers sing songs, play sports, hike and more, they will explore what Judaism means to them.
What kind of scholarships does Shalom Austin offer?
Shalom Austin offers $1,000 need-based scholarships for qualified Greater Austin residents who have enrolled in a Foundation for Jewish Camp overnight summer camp in North America.
Need-based scholarships help Austin-based families finance the cost of Jewish overnight camp tuition. Our goal is to ensure that you receive the assistance you need so that your child/children can take part in a Jewish overnight camp experience.
The deadline to apply is March 8, 2024.
Applications will be accepted through April 20, 2024, but scholarships may not be available.

Summer camp scholarships for military families
Home to the largest Jewish overnight camp network on the continent, JCC Association of North America, through the JWB Jewish Chaplains Council, with generous support from the Marcus Foundation, are proud to bring the joys and values of Jewish summer camp to Jewish children in military families through Operation Summer Camp.
Children going into third to eighth grade from Jewish military families who have an active-duty parent or a parent who has been discharged honorably from the U.S. armed services within the last three years are eligible to apply for a scholarship. Funds will cover the cost of up to four weeks at a JCC Movement-affiliated camp for up to three consecutive summers at the participating camps listed below. In 2023, the program sent 51 children to a JCC camp, of whom at least 45 are returning in 2024. Members of your community who wish to receive the scholarship should apply at one of the participating camps and mention Operations Summer Camp when registering.
