Deep End Fitness: Core Principles 

Deep End Fitness training is Aquatic fitness and breath work specifically designed to be accessible regardless of your current water abilities and confidence levels. The training utilizes the F.R.E.E – Focus, Relaxation, Economy of Motion, and Efficient Breathing operating system in conjunction with aquatic training to utilize the water as a catalyst for growth. 

Focus of the JCC Deep End Fitness program: 

  • Fitness and Breathwork to enhance resilience in all areas of life. 
  • Water confidence, swimming skills, meditation and play 
  • A community built by shared growth in and out of the water. 

What to expect: 

  1. Comprehensive Warmup that introduces you to the B.S.A.F.E. and F.R.E.E. principles that Deep End Fitness embodies.
  2. Challenging yet accessible workout involving water and land based movements including: formal stroke instruction
    • mindful movement at all depths 
    • breath regulation and CO2 tolerance building 
    • calisthenics 
  1. Cool down including specific breathwork and nervous system regulation

American Red Cross Certifications

The American Red Cross lifeguard training and certifications are required for all Dell JCC aquatics staff.

Lifeguard Instructor

The primary purpose of this course is to train instructors to teach basic level ARC lifeguarding, CPR/AED for professional Rescuers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens classes. This course prepares instructor candidates to use course and presentation materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of candidates in a professional-level course.

This course includes a 7-hour online training prior to the in-person skills session. Failure to complete the online component prior to the first day of class will result in an automatic fail.

In order to participate in this class, you must pass a pre-course which consists of a multi-rescuer response scenario, a timed scenario for water rescue & extrication(not to exceed 1 min 30 sec) followed by 3-min of 1-Rescuer CPR and an entries & approaches skill evaluation

*Lifeguard re-certification available for additional $55 fee.

Lifeguard Certification

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Training includes Waterpark skills.

This course includes a 7-hour online training prior to the in-person skills session. Failure to complete the online component prior to the first day of class will result in an automatic fail.

In order to participate in this class, you must pass a pre-course which consists of a 150-yard continuous swim using front crawl and/or breaststroke, tread water for two minutes using only your legs, followed by another 50-yard swim. This pre-course also includes a timed event which includes swimming 20 yards, picking up a 10 lb brick from the bottom of 7-10 feet of water and swimming it back to the side keeping both hands on the brick.

Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED
The purpose of this course is to teach participants to prepared to act when emergencies arise. It also gives participants the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators (BVMs) and emergency oxygen. From personalized learning to interactive scenarios to peer-to-peer learning and hands-on skill practice, you will be prepared to provide care when it’s needed most.
CPR for Professional Rescuers w/ First Aid

The primary purpose of the courses in the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers
program trains participants with the knowledge and skills needed to:

  • Provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for adults, children, and infants until advanced emergency medical services (EMS) professionals take over.
